Being disabled myself disability advocacy is naturally in my wheelhouse—not just in theory, but in lived experience and daily practice. For me, it goes far beyond pushing for ramps or accessible buildings. True advocacy is about teaching. I believe that to create meaningful change, people need to understand why something matters. We’re wired to seek context, to ask why, and to act when the answer resonates.
Unfortunately, society often views disabled people through a lens of “less”—less capable, less valuable, less worthy of autonomy. That perception is not only inaccurate, it’s harmful. So my advocacy focuses on education as much as action. Whether I’m in class, mentoring, or simply navigating the world, I try to offer insight from the perspective of being disabled—when it’s appropriate and when it can shift understanding.
I’m not formally affiliated with any advocacy organizations, but I follow and deeply respect groups like Sins Invalid, which centers disability justice through performance and art, and Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita Support Incorporated, which provides community and resources for those with AMC. Every disability is different, and so is every intersection—whether with gender, race, culture, sexuality, or class. But disability as a whole needs awareness raised, and I’m committed to being part of that conversation.
